Practical Farmers of Iowa is now enrolling farmers in a small grains cost-share program that offers $40 per acre for up to 80 acres. Adding a third year of small grains to a two-year corn and soybean rotation is incredibly beneficial to the soil. A cool season crop can disrupt pest cycles that occur in corn and soybean rotations, and also assists in keeping roots in the ground year-round which allows for nitrogen fixation and minimized pesticide/herbicide inputs. It’s a win-win scenario, so don’t miss the chance to enroll! Read more here.
