Dr. Ryan Bond, VP of Strategic Marketing & Innovation at Koch Agronomic Services, states managing nitrogen is just as much an issue for ag retailers as it is for growers. It’s a leaky system, states Bond, so more efficient products are key. In 2017, CropLife gathered intel on the latest products on the market to improve overall nitrogen efficiency. Dow AgroSciences came out with Instinct HL (high-load) which provides the same benefits as Instinct, but with 1/3 less use rate per acre. Especially noteworthy for ag retailers is that the formula will be optimized to infuse with urea. Both Instinct and N-Serve have been shown to increase soil nitrogen retention by 28% and increase bushel yield by 7%. Soon to come to market from Koch Agronomic Services will be CENTURO, a nitrification inhibitor for anhydrous ammonia, and ANVOL which protects against ammonia volatilization.
